Westhafen Tower awarded LEED Gold

Frankfurt office building receives certificate in gold

Alpha IC oversaw and successfully implemented the LEED v3 Operations & Maintenance certification for the "Westhafen Tower" in Frankfurt / Main. A combined LEED pre-assessment for v3 and v4 had already been conducted.

The spectacular office building is one of the most famous buildings on the Frankfurt skyline due to its unmistakable shape. The 100-meter-high office tower received an award from the Bund Deutscher Architekten (BDA) due to its extraordinary architecture. Furthermore, the property with its turquoise shimmering glass façade impresses with its proximity to the main railway station and related connections to transport infrastructure.

The office space is combined with conservatories located in the double façade, which contribute to a better indoor climate through natural ventilation. A special feature is that mains water is used for cooling the building. Comprehensive energy monitoring enables the identification of additional potential savings.

The Alpha IC was able to complete the LEED certification within the defined schedule. In April 2018, the Westhafen Tower received the LEED Gold certificate with 63 points.
