We are a member of the International Building Performance and Data Initiative (kurz: IBPDI) to actively support digitalization in our industry and exchange ideas with like-minded people. Here, we are jointly developing an international data model that can be used in future for buildings and their associated use cases and services.

Thomas Kohmann, authorized signatory and our expert for digitalization and IT, represents Alpha IC in the discussion rounds and joint workshops. With our technical expertise, we support the goal of developing a general data standard for the real estate and facility management industry that enables simple data exchange for all parties. To this end, standards that already exist and are used on the market are compared with each other and a uniform procedure is defined. This forms the basis for enabling cross-system communication between different building components and services. In the future, the use of artificial intelligence will play an important role in real estate management processes.

"I find the challenge of developing a data model that is based on a "digital twin" of the building model but can also be used for the supporting processes and services exciting. This is a challenge that I enjoy working on. I also like the implementation with an international focus. At the end of the day, the data model we have developed will have to prove itself in many aspects: Among other things, in the application of existing buildings, maintenance, management, use of space (workplace) through to administration in asset management." - Thomas Kohmann

The IBPDI has existed since 2020 and was initiated by BuildingMinds, Microsoft, pom+Consulting AG and RICS. Its members are investors, service providers, management consultancies and scientific institutions. You can find more information about the initiative here.
