How do you see the current level of digitization in the FM industry?
It is probably impossible to give a concrete figure. The range is as wide as the spectrum of property types, types of use and FM services. You can still find buildings where the meter reading is written in pencil on the wall above the main water meter when it was last changed. And buildings in which cleaning intervals are automatically adapted to room occupancy. So there is still a lot of potential in between.
What role does AI play in CAFM?
The CAFM industry is still in its infancy here. For a few specialized functions, such as the helpdesk or workspace management, there are now developments with approaches to AI use - but these often come from outside the industry and are connected via interfaces. The decarbonization of the building stock is one of the biggest challenges in the real estate sector. What contribution can CAFM make here?
CAFM can have multiple effects here: Firstly, digital building documentation provides an up-to-date overview of all the structural and technical conditions of a property - as a basis for any further action. The recording and evaluation of energy and media consumption then enables fact-based and target-oriented energy management. Intelligent workplace booking reduces space requirements to a necessary minimum and thus saves resources... there are many more examples.
