Inauguration of our net-zero company building: a milestone for sustainability

On January 16, 2025, Alpha IC GmbH celebrated the inauguration of its new net-zero company building on Bamberg's Lagarde Campus. This innovative office building does not require static heating or active cooling and sets new standards in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency.

Expert dialog: How much sustainability can my real estate project achieve?

The afternoon began with a specialist dialog in which experts and customers came together to discuss the opportunities and challenges of sustainable real estate projects. The central question was: “How much sustainability can my real estate project achieve?”

1. Frugal building and operating concept

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Regina Zeitner and our Managing Director Richard Weller opened the expert dialog with a keynote speech on the topic of "Frugal Real Estate. More with less!". They emphasized that frugality does not mean doing without, but rather a gain in terms of quality of stay, long-term yield protection and positive impact on ecology and society. 2. Sustainable architecture through partnership-based cooperation

Architect Christian Pohl and Alpha IC partner Jan Philipp Hesse presented the second planning principle: “Efficiency first”. They explained how intensive simulation work and trusting cooperation ensure the sustainability of the project. Click here for the complete keynote speech.

3. User comfort without heating and cooling

Martin Jaromin and Daniela Merkenich from Alpha IC explained in an interview with building owner and Alpha IC Managing Director Sebastian Hölzlein how it is possible to create a high level of user comfort in a building without heating and cooling. “Sustainability also means finding alternative solutions and setting priorities,” says Daniela Merkenich. 4. Plea for a new culture of building

His question to everyone: "...what really helps? What really does good - for our environment, for us humans and for social cohesion and good corporate governance, all summarized in the three letters E, S and G?" His wish for everyone: “More companies, more people who simply rethink sustainability and just do it instead of writing reports with little content.”

Ceremony and guests of honor

A ceremony with speeches and guests of honor followed in the evening. Lord Mayor Andreas Starke, Second Mayor Jonas Glüsenkamp and former Minister of State Melanie Huml congratulated the new company building and praised the innovative approach of Alpha IC GmbH. The early involvement of the general contractor ZECH Bau and the conscious decision to use regional and sustainable suppliers were particularly emphasized.

The inauguration event for our net-zero company building was a complete success and impressively demonstrated how much sustainability a real estate project can achieve. With innovative concepts, a clear vision and partnership-based cooperation, we are setting new standards and making a real impact instead of greenwashing.
